The CoreSLAM algorithm by Center of Robotics of Mines-ParisTechTech allows a robot equiped with a single laser scanner (e.g. Hokuyo UTM-30-LX) to build a local 2D map of its environment and localize itself accurately.

The CoreSLAM algorithm by Center of Robotics of Ecole des Mines-ParisTech allows a robot equipped with a single laser scanner (e.g. Hokuyo UTM-30-LX) to build a local 2D map of its environment and localize itself accurately.

This module is available in RTMaps and provides the following capabilities:

  • 2D mapping and positioning based on a single laser scanner input (no odometry)
  • Path planning
  • Tiling (takes advantage of disk storage for large maps)
  • Objects detection and tracking
